Assistant Principal's Report

We take this opportunity to reflect on term one, 2025 – what a jam-packed and fantastic term it has been! We have seen the usual term one activities take place, including NAPLAN testing, year 12 and 7 camps, along with a range of curriculum-based excursions and extracurricular activities like inter-school sport. Our senior students are eagerly awaiting the debutante ball, which takes place on Friday 4th April. They have been attending training regularly all term, and the organising staff have commented on how beautifully they are all dancing! We can’t wait to see them in action, dressed up to the nines and representing the school.
Term one has seen the introduction of our new whole-school assembly program and the subsequent change to Monday’s timetable. Every Monday, each lesson has been shortened by 6 minutes to allow for a regular assembly. We have two whole-school assemblies each term, and the others are either house, year level or sub-school assemblies. The purpose of the change is to facilitate increased communication to all students around what is happening in the school, along with strengthening school processes, fostering stronger connections within year levels, and allowing year levels to hone in on the curriculum being taught in our Learning to Learn program. So far, the assemblies have been running smoothly, which is a credit to our students and staff.
Term two will be another busy one. We have been working with the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) as a partner school, and this work will ramp up in term two with all staff undertaking a professional development day on May 8th around explicit teaching and cognitive science. We will be working with AERO over the next two years, completing learning around whole-school implementation and explicit teaching. We anticipate a strong impact on our teaching and learning at the school.
We are thankful for all students, families and staff and their work and support during term one, and we wish everyone a Happy Easter and a restful break.
