Library News: Celebrating a Wonderful Term and Looking Ahead!
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we wrap up Term 1, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the wonderful work and exciting reading adventures that have taken place in our school library this term. It has been a joy to see our students engage with books and technology, and I am excited to share some key highlights as well as look ahead to more learning opportunities in Term 2.
Kindergarten Adventures
This term, our Kindergarten students have embarked on their journey of discovery in the library! They have learned how to borrow books and have been introduced to the fantastic range of titles available to them. Our little learners have enjoyed exploring the colourful illustrations and engaging stories in our fiction section, while also delving into the fascinating world of non-fiction books. I’m thrilled to see their enthusiasm for borrowing and can’t wait to watch them dive into non-fiction texts next term! Encouraging them to explore different topics during the upcoming holidays will help reinforce their learning and spark their curiosity.
Year 1 and 2 Tech Explorations
Students in Years 1 and 2 have been busy integrating technology into their library experience. They’ve practiced logging onto our computers and discovering the amazing apps and resources available through their school accounts. It’s wonderful to see their growing confidence and skills in using technology to enhance their learning. I encourage parents to support their children in exploring these resources at home over the holidays, as it can be a great way to further their skills and engage with educational content in a fun and interactive manner.
Years 3-6 Creative Learning
Our older students in Years 3 to 6 have been bringing their geography studies into the library, learning how to design and render 3D objects using Tinkercad. It has been a delight to watch them explore their creativity, and we’ve already started printing some of their fantastic designs. As they continue to develop their skills, I encourage them to think about how they can apply their learning in real-world scenarios. The upcoming holidays present a perfect opportunity for them to reflect on their projects and perhaps even create new designs at home!
Looking Ahead to Term 2
As we look forward to Term 2, there are plenty of exciting activities and learning opportunities on the horizon. We will continue to foster a love for reading and exploration in the library, encouraging our students to discover new genres and topics. I encourage all families to set aside time for reading during the school holidays. Whether it’s diving into a new book, exploring an e-book on our digital platforms, or listening to an audiobook, every minute spent reading contributes to your child’s growth and love for literature.
I would also like to remind all parents that the Premier's Reading Challenge is now live! For students in Years 3-6, please encourage them to log the books they are reading at home. For our K-2 students, their reading logs will be maintained at school, and further instructions will be provided soon for parents who wish to access this information.
Accessing our school’s e-book platforms through the students' portals is a fantastic way to keep the reading momentum going over the holidays. With a wide selection of titles available, students can explore various genres and find books that pique their interest from the comfort of home.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a love of reading and learning in our school community. I look forward to another fantastic term filled with discovery and growth!
Happy reading!
Warm regards,
Our Library Team
