Textiles

This week students took an exciting step forward in their design journey by beginning to create their own patterns and paper prototypes for their textile projects. This hands-on stage is all about transforming their ideas from sketches into something tangible – testing size, scale, and shape before cutting into fabric.

We discussed what a prototype is: a first version or sample of a product used to test and improve a design before final production. It’s an essential part of the design process that helps students identify challenges early, make changes, and ensure their final product is functional, well-constructed, and fit for purpose.
