Brownwyn Ryrie Jones Curriculum Day – 19th March
Last week we were fortunate to have Bronwyn Ryrie Jones work with our staff over two days focusing on Responsive Teaching and Opportunities to Respond.
On Tuesday Bron alongside a group from our leadership team had the privilege of completing a Learning Walk across the school to gain a greater insight into the teaching and learning practices that are taking place. This was an uplifting experience for all involved.
We witnessed calm, warm classrooms with strong routines, explicit teaching, teachers making multiple adjustments for student as they teach, students engaging in the learning and providing evidence of their understanding of what was being taught. It was pleasing to see the students being supported in their learning.
The Curriculum Day on Wednesday built on the work that we had previously done with Bron on Responsive Teaching. She was able to tailor the day specifically to our school needs following on from the previous day. Throughout the day we were able to reflect on our current practices, consider our learning environments and students and how we could strengthen our practices by being mindful of creating additional opportunities for students to respond to enable them to consolidate the learning.
We look forward to building on and continuing the work done with Bron.
TUTOR LEARNING INIATIVE (TLI)
During the last week we have held 3 parent information sessions for students participating in the TLI program. It was a great opportunity for us as tutors to meet the parents and share what we offer in the program and discuss how the parents can support their child at home.
We really enjoyed meeting the parents and building connections to support your child’s learning.
Thanks so much for your attendance.
