What a great start to the school year Term 1 has been! We have been most lucky with the weather, and while the ground is dry, the warm, sunny days have been nice. We know that this beautiful weather won’t last, as we head into the cooler months.
On Wednesday, we held the Term 1 Conferences, with parents and students coming to talk to their teachers about their learning and progress so far. It was great to hear the bubble of conversation and it was a nice chance to say hello to many of our families. If you weren’t able to make it and want to talk to the teachers, please send an email and they will respond when they can, possibly early next term.
Visitors to this event would have seen the large amounts of pre-loved uniform items that we have available to good homes. Please always make sure you drop in and look at our supplies before going and buying new items. It is also important to remind families to ensure clothing is named, as the lost and found pile was also quite big.
Term one ended in the (recently) traditional way, with our House Cross Country Run being held. Again, the weather was just perfect to make this event pleasant for participants and spectators. I’d like to acknowledge Alpine Timing, run by Michal Trnka, who volunteered to time this event for our students. Our students are lucky to have this world class service for the event, so we can provide instant feedback on their run. I’d sincerely like to thank Michal and his team for their efforts to make this event special. Thanks also to Jenny Farrington for her organisation and to the staff for helping the event run smoothly.
This project was launched in December last year, and until recently, there was a lot of work going on in the background. Recently, there has been a bit more visible action, so it is timely to provide an update!
Currently, ahead of the July 2025 planned completion schedule, the project has been allocated to an architecture firm. They visited the site, took measurements and viewed the current areas, noting the existing infrastructure that has to be worked around. Over the next month or so, a schematic design will be submitted to the Victorian Schools Building Authority (VSBA), for review and approval, before being shared with the school. Once this has been completed, commencement of tender documentation will occur. From now, the estimated construction completion time is 16 months.
I hope everyone has a restful break and enjoys some time with family and friends over the Easter holiday period.
Term 2 resumes on Tuesday 22nd April (Monday 21st is the Easter Monday public holiday) with classes starting promptly at 9am. Looking forward to seeing you all then!
