In the classroom...
Junior levels
Our foundation students have been practicing how to move around the performing arts room safely, and how to correctly use various percussion instruments in the room. They have learnt what the five elements of Music are, and applied these elements to their music making. Year 1/2 students have been practicing their improvisation skills. They have used percussion instruments to improvise beats in different tempos, and have also practiced improvising song against different chord progessions.
Senior levels
Year 3/4 students' focus had been on the Nutcracker Ballet. They learnt the history and plot of the ballet, and have used their understanding of the elements of Music to analyse the different pieces in the ballet. Year 5/6 students have just finished their drama unit, and had been spending the previous weeks learning the lines and characteristics of different characters in the production.
Performing Arts News...
Choir
All students are welcome to join choir! Choir rehearsals run every Monday during lunchtime. We will be performing at assemblies, the production and carols night. If your child is interested in joining choir, feel free to send me an email at zoe.tsai@education.vic.gov.au
Production update
We have announced the results of the auditions and have started our first rehearsal on Tuesday 25/3. I just want to say a huge well done and congratulations to all students for their wonderful performance at the auditions and at the rehearsals. Our first rehearsal ran smoothly, and students were focused and on task the entire time.
Due to grade 6 camp in week 10, production rehearsals will resume in Term 2. I will be posting more information about rehearsals at a closer date.
Production backstage crew application
If your child is interested in being a part of the production backstage crew, they can apply by sending in an application letter no longer than 500 words.
The application letter should include:
- Student’s full name and class
- Reasons why they think they should be considered for the crew
Please email the application letter to zoe.tsai@education.vic.gov.au by Friday 30th May. Please note that sending in an application does not guarantee a spot in the crew. Thank you for your understanding!
