School Attendance

St Mary's Attendance Snapshot — Term 1, 2025
We all understand that regular school attendance is vital to student success—academically, socially, and emotionally. As we wrap up Term 1, we're pleased to share our attendance data across year levels.
We’re particularly encouraged by the outstanding attendance in Year 3 and Prep, showing strong engagement from our younger learners. Our whole-school average of 93.74% reflects our community’s shared commitment to consistent learning.
Why Attendance Matters
The Department of Education Victoria emphasises that every day counts—even missing one day a fortnight can add up to four full weeks of missed learning in a year. Maintaining high attendance helps learners to be connected and succeed academically and socially.
We encourage families to continue promoting punctual and regular attendance by:
- Establishing consistent morning routines
- Planning appointments outside of school hours where possible
- Communicating proactively with staff about any challenges
School gates open at 8:30am, and learning begins promptly at 8:45am. It’s essential that learners arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 to ensure they are ready to start the day on time. Every minute counts—being here from the start sets the tone for a successful day of learning.
