Principal's Update

Where is the time going this term?! It has been exciting this term to see so many good deeds by our students in the field of community service. Well done to those VOS (Voice of Students) who are volunteering at breakfast club and to the students in Term 1 who cooked for Gail to distribute to students. We have already had numerous events this term run by students seeking to spread the message of kindness – Do It For Dolly Day and IDAHOBIT. The main message is always to be kind. Nothing is ever lost if you show kindness. In fact, we usually find something special is gained.
I would like to welcome two new staff members, the amazing Ms Vosper who is a Leading Teacher in charge of Applied Learning and a new fantastic Education Support Staff member, Ava Brown. We are also adding on another Trade class called Trade Plus, this will include not only trade skills but potentially also an element of art.
You may have seen the fuss in the media at the minute about parents contacting school staff outside of hours. Generally, we find the majority of parents, carers and guardians are very respectful and mindful that like everyone, we have lives and responsibilities outside of school too. We also do our best to not email or send messages to parents outside of school hours. We are not always perfect either! Unfortunately, we are experiencing the same trend of disrespect that many other employees are facing, whereby people are abusive and rude to us either in face-to-face communications and/ or over the phone or via email. The message from us is the same as we see in supermarkets, doctors’ offices, and other places, none of us come to work to be abused, it is okay to disagree, but it is not okay to be disrespectful by swearing, threatening, or harassing.
