Dear Parents, Carers, and Friends of St Brendan’s,
Welcome to Week 4.
I am both excited and proud to share how wonderfully our students have begun the school year at St Brendan’s. They are demonstrating respect, enthusiasm, and a genuine eagerness to embrace each learning opportunity and succeed. I would like to take this moment to acknowledge and thank our dedicated teachers and learning support staff, whose guidance is so integral to the success of our classrooms.
This year, as we embrace our theme of Leading and Learning with Teamwork and Kindness, it fills me with great pride to witness these values in action every day. Under the direction of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), our focus remains on two key pillars: Excellence and Equity for every student.
To ensure we provide both, our Student Learning Team—led by speech pathologist Amy Brook and Diversity Leader Daniela Ruberto—supports students across the school, offering either ongoing assistance or short-term interventions. The team also includes experienced teachers Catherine Hare, Jenny Riddell, and Tallulah Peacock. If your child is to receive any intervention from this team, you will be notified via letter. Should you have any questions about a placement, please feel free to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.
This Thursday, February 20th, we will celebrate our Welcome Mass at 11:30am in St Brendan’s Church. Prepared by our Year 5/6 team and their students, this Mass will mark the Year of Jubilee in the Catholic Church, a call to be Pilgrims of Hope. During this special service, we will also pray for blessings on our school community throughout 2025.
Following Mass, the children will enjoy a sausage sizzle and icy pole, generously sponsored by Their Care, our wonderful out-of-hours school care providers. The students will then come together in their house teams for an afternoon of fun, with tabloid sports hosted by Kaboom Sports. We warmly invite all parents, carers, grandparents, and friends to join us for this celebration of community. The children will be dismissed at the usual time of 3:15pm.
I look forward to catching up with many of you at the Mass or during Kaboom Sports.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.
Warm regards,
Sue
