Spotlight on Learning Room 2

Welcome to week 3! It has been a busy week for Room 2. This week, we have focused on exploring ‘What is a Mathematician? And what do Mathematicians do?
Creating a classroom that fosters a positive disposition towards Mathematics, supports our learners in the classroom by encouraging students to take risks in their learning, challenge themselves, persist and keep trying, even when we “make a mistake”.
We started with a survey to support our classmates in sharing their thoughts and feelings towards Mathematics at this moment.
Throughout the week we as a group we have learnt…
Our brains are like a muscle, the more we try and practice, the more we will learn, and our brains will “grow”.
Mathematicians understand that mistakes are okay and help us learn.
Mathematicians say positive statements to themselves including “I will not give up”, “I can keep trying”, “I can’t do it yet, but I will keep going”.
- Mathematicians stick to it.
We can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings.
