Wellbeing News

Welcome back
A huge welcome back to all our families.
Just a reminder that if you are accessing outside agencies to support your child during school times, you need to have them reach out to your child's Learning Community Leader to arrange days and times for sessions.
Student Wellbeing Leaders
Our student wellbeing leaders for 2025 are Nadia and Clancy.
They will be supporting our school by organising our Good Friday Appeal and Footy Colours Day. They will be also organising weekly activities and games for students in our Wellbeing Hub during lunch breaks.
We wish them all the best in their new roles.
Family Information Sessions 2025
A big thank you to all families who have supported the information sessions we have already held this year. Future session will be announced in upcoming newsletters.
Monday 10th February 9:00 a.m.
Online Safety presented by Andy Moreton from Victoria Community Policing Unit, Preston.
Andy gave an informative presentation to parents. We are currently in the process of organising for Andy to return to Newlands to speak with our students.
Thursday 20th February 2:30 p.m.
Koorie Cultural Understandings presented by Uncle Trevor Gallagher. Uncle Trevor gave an informative session to those in attendance. We will continue to work with Uncle Trevor in 2025 to have him support our school with experiences which support continued understanding of Aboriginal culture.
Inserted below is a powerful video he shared with us.
Wednesday 26th February 9:00 a.m.
Understanding the Disability Inclusion Program (DIP) which supports students with disabilities presented by Sonya OBrien.
This session is to explain the program and the process involved when applying for funding for induvial students.
The DIP process is designed to help schools and families identify the strengths, needs, and educational adjustments schools can make for individual students.
This session is a general information session and Sonya will meet with families at a later date if they have individualised questions related to supports for their child.
