Bike Education
Only Grades 1/2 and 3/4
I am excited to announce that Bike Education (Bike Ed) is just around the corner for our Grade 1/2 and 3/4 students! This program will take place during weeks 6 to 8 of this term, while our Preps and Grades 5/6 will participate in Term 4. Please find the timetable at the end of this article for specific dates and times.
Bike Education offers many wonderful benefits for our students. Not only is it a fun and active way to learn, but it also helps develop essential skills that will last a lifetime. Riding a bike is an excellent form of physical exercise, promoting fitness, balance and coordination. In addition to physical benefits, Bike Ed teaches students important road safety and traffic awareness skills, which are vital for keeping them safe on the roads.
During our Bike Ed sessions, students will learn how to safely ride a bike, practice essential cycling skills such as steering, braking, and signalling, and become familiar with road rules and safety procedures. This hands-on experience helps children build confidence, independence, and responsibility, all while developing their motor skills and fitness.
We are also excited to link this program to Ride2School Day, which will take place in week 8. More information about Ride2School Day will be shared soon, so keep an eye out!
To ensure your child is fully prepared, please make sure their bike and helmet is in good condition and fits properly. On the designated Bike Ed dates, students will need to bring their bikes and helmets to school. In the morning, they can park their bikes in the bike parking area located behind the quadrangle, next to the blue shed.
We look forward to seeing all our students enjoy this exciting opportunity to learn essential skills and have fun on their bikes!
