LITERACY

This term, we’re dedicating an hour each day within our literacy block to Core Literacy Skills. During this time, students will engage in a variety of tasks designed to strengthen their core literacy skills. They will work on Phonemic Awareness, Morphology/Etymology (understanding word meanings), Phonics, Paired Fluency and handwriting practice. These activities will help build essential skills for reading, writing, and language comprehension.

Students will also explore different text types and genres. This term, we are starting an author study on picture storybooks by Eve Bunting. They will dive into her books and explore the authors' craft techniques. We will also be delving into the world of Roald Dahl through his book Matilda. 

In Writing, students will learn how to structure and write narratives and persuasive pieces. We will also focus on sentence structure, paragraph writing and grammar to strengthen their writing skills.
