Principal's Report

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to a brand-new school year! A very special welcome to our new families joining our school community for the first time. We are thrilled to see our preps settling in so well, making new friends, and embracing school life with enthusiasm.

Welcome Back BBQ

One of the highlights of the term so far has been our Welcome Back to School BBQ, which is fast becoming a favourite annual event. It was wonderful to see the community come together, enjoy delicious food, and share in the fun. The animal farm brought so much joy, and the smiles on children’s faces when the ice cream van arrived were priceless!

Welcome to Our New Staff

We are delighted to welcome several new staff members to our school this year. We look forward to the valuable contributions they will make to our school community.

A special note regarding our PE teacher, Dom – he will be on leave for this year. We wish him well and look forward to his return in the future.

Swimming Pool Reopening

Exciting news – our swimming pool is finally up and running! Thank you all for your patience as essential maintenance was completed. It has been wonderful to see so many happy children enjoying their swimming lessons this week.

Parent Group

A heartfelt thank you to all parents who attended our AGM. We would love to see more parents involved in this fantastic group. To encourage participation, the parent group is hosting an informal offsite coffee catch-up – a great opportunity to meet other parents and learn more about their amazing work.

A huge thank you to Buena, who has been the president of the parent group for several years. She will continue to be part of the group, and we now welcome Sanae as the new president. We appreciate both of them for their dedication and leadership.

School Council

This year, there are no parent vacancies, so our parent representatives will remain the same for another year. However, we are currently recruiting one staff member and two student members. A full list of school council members will be included in the next newsletter.

Lateness to School & Early Pickups

We are experiencing a significant number of late arrivals, averaging 45 students per day – nearly a quarter of our student population. Managing this volume places a strain on our office staff, as late arrivals and early pickups occur over 2-3 hours daily, which is unsustainable.

To find a solution, we need your support. We will be conducting a short survey to understand the reasons behind these late arrivals and explore possible solutions. This survey will be available on Compass and in students’ bags. We appreciate your participation in helping us address this challenge.

In the meantime, we ask for your patience when dropping off late students or picking them up early, as our office staff do their best to accommodate everyone. Thank you for your cooperation.

Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

SSG meetings will take place over the next few weeks. These important discussions with your child’s teacher provide an opportunity to set key learning goals and review their Individual Education Plan. We look forward to seeing you there.

Save the Date – Coffee & Tea with the Principal & Sandra

We invite you to join us for a casual coffee and tea session with myself and Sandra. This is a great opportunity to chat, ask questions, and stay informed about what’s happening at school.

Date: Wednesday, 13th March Time: 9:15 AM – 10:30 AM

We hope to see many of you there!

Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead.
