Reflection

LENT

With Lent beginning next Wednesday, it is a great opportunity for us to reflect on the purpose of the Lenten season.

Lent is a sacred season of reflection, repentance, and renewal. It is a time to turn our hearts toward God, preparing ourselves spiritually for the celebration of Easter. The best way to prepare for Lent is to enter it with intention, embracing prayer, fasting, and feasting as a way to deepen our faith.

Fasting is not merely about abstaining from food; it is about making room for God in our lives. When we fast from distractions, negativity, or indulgences, we create space to feast on God’s presence. In this way, fasting becomes a pathway to experiencing the true beauty of Lent—a season that calls us to transformation and deeper communion with Christ.

Preparation for Lent is not only an individual effort but also a communal one. As a faith community, we can encourage one another through shared prayer, acts of service, and support in our Lenten commitments. Whether it is through gathering for worship, engaging in prayer, or simply holding each other accountable in our sacrifices, we journey together in faith.

Ultimately, Lent invites us to align our hearts with God’s will. By preparing with prayer, fasting, and service, we enter this season not as a burden, but as a gift—an opportunity to grow in holiness and celebrate the hope of the Resurrection.

Fasting & Feasting

Lent is more than a time of fasting; it can also be a joyous season of feasting. Lent is a time to fast from certain things and to feast on others.

Fast from judging others

Feast on the Christ dwelling in them

Fast from worry

Feast on Divine Providence

Fast from complaining

Feast on appreciation

Fast from self-concern

Feast on compassion for others

Fast from discouragement

Feast on hope

Fast from problems that overwhelm

Feast on prayer

Fast from thoughts of illness

Feast on the healing power of God

A reminder of the P&F Cocktail Evening

On Friday 7 March, the P&F Association will host the annual Cocktail function in the College Gym.

I would encourage all families, especially those new to the College, to join us at this event.  I look forward to seeing you all at the Cocktail evening.

Save the Date:  Open Day 22 March

That time of the year, Open Day, is fast approaching.  Open Day is a vital event for our College as it provides a welcoming and immersive experience for prospective students and their families. It is an opportunity to showcase our vibrant learning environment, dedicated faculty, and the diverse academic and extracurricular opportunities available. More than just an introduction, Open Day allows future students to envision themselves as part of our community, fostering a sense of belonging and excitement for their educational journey ahead. By opening our doors, we not only share our values and mission but also build meaningful connections that will shape the next generation of learners and leaders.  Please encourage your friends and family who are interested in a Pius education to attend our Open Day.

Applications for enrolments for Year 5 & 7 in 2027 open on 1 March for families to complete.

Current students will have the opportunity shortly to be involved in this significant day by enrolling as a helper as either a tour guide or a faculty assistant.
