Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.
May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.
Parking
It is of paramount importance to all of us that we ensure the safety of our school community and, most importantly, our students around our roads. The roads surrounding our school and kindergarten are exceptionally busy, particularly in the morning and afternoons. It is at all times, and especially pick-up and drop-off times that we ask our families to prioritise safe behaviours in and around traffic. We ask that our families be critically vigilant in terms of where they park (ensuring legal and appropriate parking), speed zones (adhering to school zone limits) and safe and supportive behaviours as pedestrians as well. A significant number of our families are experiencing near misses, frustrations and inconvenience due to some short cuts being taken by drivers and pedestrians. As reports have been made to Ballarat City Council, this is a friendly reminder, in order to avoid a parking/speeding penalty that, as a community we abide by traffic laws.
Thank you.
School Council Elections
School Councils play a vital role in Victorian government schools.
Would you like to know more about school operations?
Would you like to have a role in establishing the broad direction and vision of the school within the school's community?
Nominations for our 2025 School Council are being called, and we would love to have some new members join us this year.
Self-nomination forms are available from our office and are open from today through until Friday 7th March.
Should there be more nominations than vacancies, a ballot will then commence over the course of the following week to establish the final membership.
Please consider nominating and joining a vibrant and active group of volunteers, who provide wonderful governance for our school community.
Assembly
We look forward to announcing and celebrating our Junior School Council Representatives this Friday at 2:30 pm at our School Assembly. Our families and school community are very welcome to attend.
Enjoy the rest of the week,
Kylie Nissen.
