FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Presentation Night
It was wonderful to see so many members of our community come together last night at our annual Presentation Night as we celebrated and recognised the academic, sporting, creative, and citizenship achievements of our incredibly talented students.
The achievements recognised last night are stepping stones to even greater success. Our students have demonstrated that there is no limit to what we can accomplish when talent, expertise, and passion come together.
To the students who received awards—congratulations and well done. Know that this recognition is meaningful: it acknowledges the progress you have made so far. But do not stop here. Focus on the next step and pursue it with determination. At Inverell High School, we speak often about “Strive to Achieve” and doing your personal best at every point in time.
Departing Staff
As is customary at the end of each year, we also say farewell to several valued staff members who are moving on for various reasons. Each has made a significant contribution to our school:
• Mrs Deborah McCabe, taking leave as she transitions into the next chapter of her life.
• Mr Thomas Scotton, who has moved to Newcastle.
• Ms Pauline Jackwitz, who has taken up a relieving Head Teacher role at Bonalbo Central School until the end of 2026.
• Mr Kevin Wright, who has retired.
Here’s to another year of growth, innovation, and shared success.
Outstanding Regional Recognition for Jack Partridge
We are incredibly proud to announce that Jack Partridge has been honoured with multiple prestigious awards at the North West Schools Sports Association Presentation held in Tamworth on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
Jack was named the North West Sports Person of the Year and was also awarded Joint Recipient of the North West Athlete of the Year, recognising his exceptional talent, dedication, and consistency across a range of sporting disciplines.
In addition to these major honours, Jack received two highly regarded regional distinctions:
The North West Blue for Rugby League, acknowledging his outstanding skill, leadership, and representative success in the sport.
The North West Bar to the Blue for Athletics, awarded in recognition of his continued excellence and high-level performance in athletics over multiple seasons.
These accolades reflect not only Jack’s impressive sporting ability but also his work ethic, resilience, and commitment to continual improvement. He has represented Inverell High School and the wider region with distinction, setting an exceptional standard for our aspiring athletes.
We congratulate Jack on these remarkable achievements and look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.
Inverell High School’s New National Boxing Champion
Inverell High School is celebrating an outstanding sporting achievement, with rising star Riley Bartlett crowned National Champion in the 14–16 years division at the National Boxing Championships on the Gold Coast last week.
Riley showcased exceptional composure, control, and resilience throughout the tournament, overcoming highly experienced opponents to secure the national title. His success is a testament not only to his talent and work ethic but also to the guidance of coaches Darren and Dean Finn from the SAS Boxing and Martial Arts Centre.
Fellow student Austin Manallo also delivered an impressive performance in the Intermediate 17–19 years division. Austin faced the current Australasian titleholder from Victoria, pushing the bout to a close split decision, ultimately finishing in a commendable fourth place. His skill, determination, and sportsmanship were praised by coaches and spectators alike.
Inverell High School congratulates Riley and Austin on their remarkable achievements. They have represented their school and community with pride, resilience, and excellence. We look forward to seeing their continued success in the ring.
As we move into the final two weeks of the school year, I encourage all students to stay focused, stay organised, and finish strong. This is a valuable time to consolidate learning, uphold our expectations, and demonstrate the pride we take in being part of Inverell High School. Let’s continue supporting one another, attending every day, and making positive choices as we bring our year to a successful and respectful close. Thank you to our families and community for your ongoing partnership—we look forward to ending the year on a high.
