From the Principal

Thank you all for a wonderful year
It is always great to reflect on the year that we have had as a school, and we have many achievements that we are very proud of as a school. This year our students have experienced camps, excursions, incursions, fun runs, discos, learning expos, sporting
competitions and many other fun and educational events that add to their primary school experiences. We feel very proud when our ex-students return to Camelot Rise and tell us about how they are performing in secondary school and talk to their previous teachers. This shows a real connection to our school.
A significant highlight for Camelot Rise is achieving a ‘High’ overall performance rating in the Department of Education’s recently released annual School Performance Report. Schools are categorised in one of four domains – High, Improving, Medium and Developing comprising a 50% weighting on learning outcomes and 50% on wellbeing outcomes. This report and rating provide a yearly opportunity for schools to review outcomes, improvement cycles and look to celebrate the work undertaken whilst aligning improvement priorities for the coming year.
School Performance Reports are generated each year and contain details of how the school has performed on a selected set of student outcome measures, compared to all other government schools, by allocation to a performance group.
The level of detail provided by the School Performance Report supports schools to improve their strategic planning by identifying key areas for improvement and enabling schools to access targeted supports for improved outcomes.
For our efforts to be recognised with a high rating is a wonderful achievement and a great credit to the work that occurs in our school from our teaching staff, education support, administration and leadership team.
Christmas Concert
We are all looking forward to our Christmas Concert on Thursday, 18th December
commencing at 5:00pm. (Food trucks will be here from 4:30pm). The Christmas Concert is always such a wonderful community event, and we are looking forward to another one this year.
All classes will be performing on the night and this year we will have a performance by our ‘Camelot Rise 3- and 4-year-old Playgroup’. We are looking forward to seeing all classes and our Playgroup performing on the night.
It promises to be a fun evening.
Farewell to the Class of 2025!
Our 2025 Year Six students are now in their final weeks of primary school. We are very much looking forward to the Year 6 Graduation and Awards night that will be held on Wednesday, 10th December.
It is an exciting time for any young person to move from the sanctuary of their primary school and take the challenge of entering secondary school. We would like to wish them all a very fond farewell from Camelot Rise Primary School. We know our school has provided these students with the skills and confidence to take on any challenge they face in the coming years. I would also like to farewell all the families that are departing Camelot Rise Primary School for a variety of reasons.
We hope that wherever you go you will look back fondly at your time at Camelot Rise Primary School.
School reports - Friday 12th December
Our Semester 2 Student Reports will be ‘live’ from Friday, 12th December. Please take time to read though your child’s report and discuss with them their achievements, their attitudes towards their learning and the future learning goals.
A final reminder to parents of Year 6 students, as well as families who are leaving the school, to please download all the reports from Compass before the last day of term. Once the term finishes, those families will no longer have access to Compass.
Thanks to the teaching staff that spend many hours preparing and producing these reports.
Congratulations
We would like to congratulate Amber Liu, for her commitment and hard works at this year's Blackburn String Workshop, which was run by the department.
The following email was shared with our school:
There were over 100 students who participated in the event and Amber was one of the most dedicated and resilient students. Amber is also one of the very few primary school students who were selected to participate in the senior orchestra, where students were mostly from secondary schools with advanced technical skills on their instruments.
The 3 days’ workshop were unfortunately again met with severe weather where students had to shiver through winter like temperature one day and performed indoor in over 30 degrees of heat without air-conditioning on the last day.
Despite the situation, Amber was among some of the best behaving students across all 3 days. In addition, Amber performed exceptionally well for the final day concert in front of all families and friends.
Well done Amber we are incredibly proud of you
Thank you to our School Council
Our dedicated School Council meets each month during the school year to undertake their important role in the governance of Camelot Rise PS. The work of our School Council focuses on oversight of important areas such as the school finances, buildings and grounds, school policy, strategic planning, fundraising and out of school hours care provision.
We have an outstanding school council in 2025 with excellent representation provided by
parents and carers and members of our teaching staff. Working in partnership our school council maintains a strong focus on continuous improvement and making sure that our students receive a high-quality education.
What I really enjoy is the sense of unified purpose and mutual respect all members bring to this work as it enables us to make a real difference for our wonderful students.
We will be holding school council elections in February 2026, and we are always on the lookout for new members to join. There are no special skills required and if you talk to any current councillor I sure they would encourage others to consider this opportunity.
On behalf of everyone in our community I want sincerely thank our school councillors for 2025.
School Council President – Sandeep Khyalia
School Council Vice President – Angela Gray
School Council Treasurers – Linda Dascal, Kim Doan, Terry Lung

Second Hand Uniform Sales
Last Friday we held a Second-Hand Uniform Sale, and this was extremely popular and very successful. A huge thank you to Angela Gray (School Council Vice President) who initiated and coordinated this entire event. We raise over $1000 on the day, and this money will go back into the school.
Due to the success we will aim to hold two events like this every year. We will hold these at the end of Term Two and Term Four in 2026.
Thank you to all the parents that donated second half uniforms to the school and helped our fellow community members.
School leadership positions for 2026
Last Friday we announced the 2026 Student Leadership Positions. This is a very detailed process involving students preparing and presenting speeches to their peers and teachers, students and staff voting and finally the students that were shortlisted for the roles of School Captain also had an ‘interview’ with Mrs Giannopoulos, Mrs Bett and myself. Congratulations to the following students that were elected to leadership positions for 2026.

Reading
With the school holidays looming, I thought now was a good time to remind families of the benefits of regular reading habits. Whilst we expect students to read every night as part of
their homework routine, we truly want them to want to read every night for enjoyment. We hope this continues over the holidays and that our students can continue to keep up their reading habits. Research shows that the summer break leads to approximately a two-week drop-in literacy skill for some students. For those that read regularly, they go the other way and can gain more than a month in terms of learning growth, simply by enjoying a book here and there and reading before bedtime.
Have a wonderful holiday!
We would like to wish all students, parents, and staff a wonderful Christmas and holiday season with their families. We would like to thank everyone who works so hard to make Camelot Rise Primary School such a fantastic school.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with your children each day. This relationship
between school and home is vitally important and we know that our students benefit from the great relationship we have with our community.
Again, thanks for a wonderful year.
Finally, if you and your family use our school grounds during the holidays and see any suspicious activity, please call DE Emergency Management 9589 6266 or Glen Waverley Police 9566 1555 or 000.
Matthew Coney & Ben Heys
