PRINCIPAL

Stephen.Watt@education.wa.edu.au

This will be my final Weekly Wrap before I retire at the end of next week (technically, I am still employed until the end of the vacation period). I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been part of not only Harvey Ag, but also the wider Ag College system for so many years. Harvey Ag has been part of my life from my very first teaching practicum in 1987 at the old site, to finishing here as Principal 39 years later. I’ve seen a lot of change at Harvey over those years.

There are many things I have loved about Ag Colleges, but the main one is the way we bring students, families, and staff from so many backgrounds into a community with a shared sense of purpose and pride. I feel very privileged to have been the Principal of Harvey Ag, and I am extremely grateful to everyone around me who has supported me over many years and in various roles.

Staffing changes

There are a number of staffing changes for 2026, but I am confident that our strong systems and processes will ensure that the good work continues. The changes include myself, Chris Curran, and Bill Jones retiring. Dean Pfitzner is leaving us to pursue a teaching role at Cunderdin Ag, and Kay Williams will leave at the end of her contract.

Next year, we will welcome a new Principal, Residential Supervisors, an English teacher, a chef, and a kitchen hand.

For first term, Shaun Cantwell will fill in as Deputy Principal while the position is advertised. Mat Depiazzi will fill in as Head of Trades.

There are a couple of other staffing changes to be confirmed in the coming weeks, and these will round out our full complement of staff to start 2026.

Please stay safe over the holiday period and look after yourselves, your families and friends.

Best wishes for 2026.
