Mini Vinnies Hope & Gratitude Fundraising Day – Tuesday 1st July
Dear Families,
We are excited to invite all students and families to participate in a special event hosted by our Grade 5 and 6 Mini Vinnies teams on Tuesday 1st July – a day filled with fun, giving, and community spirit!
This event is the culmination of our senior students’ Term 2 inquiry into the theme of Hope & Gratitude: Caring for Those in Need, with a focus on supporting our local community. Throughout the term, students have investigated the origins, missions, and local impact of a variety of charities making a real difference to people’s lives, including:
- Caritas Australia
- St Vincent De Paul (Vinnies Kitchen)
- Salvation Army
- Victorian Homeless Fund
- Melbourne City Missions
- Southern Peninsula Community Support Service
- Save the Children
- Starlight Children’s Foundation
- MSFIN (Mums Supporting Families in Need)
- Royal Children’s Hospital
To support these important causes, our students will be running a range of fundraising activities suitable for all year levels. Students are encouraged to bring along a gold coin (or more) to participate in the following exciting activities:
Ping pong ball in a cup (prizes)
Make your own bracelet
Decorate a gift bag
Nut-free cookies & brownies
Flavoured crushed ice drinks
Cupcake decorating
Pancakes for sale
Lucky dip
Basketball Knockout (prizes)
Handball footy (prizes)
Kids Bingo (prizes)
In addition to these, we are also collecting the following items for donation:
A warm, winter coat (in good condition)
A clean, soft toy
We look forward to a joyful and generous day of hope, gratitude, and community support.
St Vinnies Winter Appeal – Help Us Keep Others Warm
As winter tightens its grip across Victoria, many in our local community are feeling the cold more than most. The St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal is a vital initiative that provides much-needed warmth, comfort, and hope to those experiencing hardship during the colder months.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the families who have already contributed so generously—your donations are already making a real difference and are deeply appreciated.
But the need remains great, and we invite everyone in our school community tocontinue supporting this important appeal. This is not just about giving—it’s about teaching our children the values of compassion, service, and empathy, and showing them how their actions can directly impact the lives of others.
What Can We Donate? We are still gratefully accepting the following items:
- Warm clothing – clean coats, jumpers, beanies, scarves, gloves (all sizes)
- Blankets and sleeping bags – in good condition
- Non-perishable food – canned goods, pasta, rice, soup, long-life milk
- Toiletries – toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant
Please ensure all items are clean and in good, usable condition.
How to Donate
Donations can be placed in the St Vinnies collection baskets located near the school office. We will continue collecting until Friday of Week 10.
Wishing you all a blessed week ahead.
Warm regards,
Jacqui Hayes
