Grade 3-6:

Reading:

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 7 of the term! Time is flying by, and our classrooms are buzzing with activity. In Grade 3/4A, students have continued their study of Charlotte’s Web, diving into the rich themes of friendship and loyalty. Over in Grade 4/5A, the class is still enjoying Runt, exploring persuasive writing and character development. Meanwhile, Grade 5/6A are fully engaged in their study of Dirrarn, deepening their understanding of identity and connection to culture. It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm for reading and learning across all year levels!

Writing:

Students across the school have been thoroughly enjoying their work in writing this term. They’ve explored the art of persuasive writing, learning how to form strong arguments and express their opinions with confidence. Character descriptions have allowed them to dive into the worlds of the books they’re reading, bringing characters to life with vivid detail and imagination. More recently, students have begun working on information reports, developing research skills and learning how to present facts in a clear and organised way. It’s been fantastic to see their creativity and writing skills continue to grow!

Maths:

The Grade 3/4A and Grade 4/5A classes have been exploring the topic of Money. Students have been learning how to recognise different notes and coins, calculate change, and make decisions about spending and saving. They've enjoyed hands-on activities that connect maths to real-life situations. Meanwhile, the Grade 5/6A class has been diving into the world of decimals and percentages. They’ve been developing their understanding through problem-solving tasks and applying their knowledge to everyday contexts, such as shopping discounts and data analysis. It’s been a busy and engaging time for all!

The Resilience Project:

This term, students have continued their learning all about The Resilience Project, focusing on the key pillars of Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness. Through engaging activities and discussions, they’ve been developing important life skills to help build resilience and support their overall wellbeing. In addition to this, students have also been learning Auslan, the Australian Sign Language. They’ve enjoyed practising common signs and learning how Auslan helps people in the Deaf community communicate. It’s been a wonderful opportunity for students to build both emotional and social awareness.

I AM MINDFUL Program:

The Founders at I AM MINDFUL created the I.A.M™ Mental Health First-Aid Toolkit to help young people and their loved ones learn how to manage big feelings at school, home or on the go. It's the perfect care pack for someone going through a tough time and for someone who needs just that little bit extra of help.
