Prep to Grade 2:

Push and Pull Incursion
During our exciting Push and Pull Incursion, students explored the fundamental forces that make our world move, pushes, pulls, and gravity, through hands-on learning and creative problem-solving!
One of the highlights was when students worked together to build a robot, using a combination of materials and teamwork to understand how different forces make machines move. They also reconstructed and constructed cars.
Through engaging activities, students felt the power of gravity and saw how it acts on objects, always pulling them toward the Earth. They experienced how their own strength could change the speed and direction of objects by pushing and pulling in different ways.
The incursion was a fantastic way to bring science to life, giving students a deeper understanding of how forces shape our everyday experiences; all while having a whole lot of fun!

Literacy
Prep
The students have continued their Little Learners Love Literacy Journey with the letter 'e.' It has been wonderful to see their writing progressing with writing sentences about their weekends and reflections about the semester.
1/2
Grade 1 students have been busy learning about 3 different graphemes for the sound /er/ including 'ir', 'ur', and 'er' as well as the morphology rules that are needed when adding '-er' as a suffix to a base word.
Grade 2 students have been focussing on the suffix '-ed', the three different sounds it often makes, and how it can change verbs into their past tense form. This week they have been learning about the prefixes 're'- and 'pre-'.
For writing, we have been finishing up our procedure unit. In class, we made delicious teacup biscuits which students then used this experience to write up the recipe. Many students also really enjoyed starting to type their good copies on the iPads with our new keyboards.
Numeracy
Prep
The Preps have finished their subtraction unit. They are enjoying their work about data and graphs. It has been great to see them practise asking questions about familiar topics.
1/2
The 1/2 class has finished up their addition and subtraction unit this week, and are looking at starting statistics and graphing next week.
