Celebrating the Sacrament of First Eucharist
We are delighted to share the joyous news that several of our students will be celebrating their First Communion on Saturday, 24th May at 6:00 PM at St Mary's Star of the Sea Church. This is a significant and sacred step in their faith journey, and we warmly invite our school and parish community to come together in support and celebration.
Please join us in congratulating the following students who have been preparing with dedication and reverence:
Zara, Pia, Max, Winter, Sigi, Kirra, Chloe, Malakai, Dallas, Amelia, Hugo, Indiana, and Isobel.
In addition, we are pleased to acknowledge the four catechist students who will also be receiving this sacrament alongside their peers.
First Eucharist is a beautiful milestone in the Catholic faith, marking the moment these young people receive Jesus in the form of Holy Communion for the first time. It is a celebration of unity, love and spiritual growth.
We encourage all families, friends, and members of our parish to attend this special Mass and show their support for our young communicants. Let us come together in faith and community to witness and celebrate this sacred occasion.
All are welcome.
Celebrating the Eucharist at Home – A Family Guide
Even when we’re not at church, we can still remember and celebrate the Eucharist at home in simple and special ways. The Eucharist is all about Jesus’ love and sharing a special meal with Him, just like at the Last Supper.
Here are some ideas your family can try at home to keep that spirit alive:
Pray Together
Before meals, take a moment to thank Jesus for His love and all the good things in your life. A simple prayer like, “Thank you, Jesus, for giving yourself to us in the Eucharist,” can be a beautiful way to remember Him.
Light a Candle
Lighting a candle at dinner or during prayer time is a peaceful way to show that Jesus is with you. You might say, “Jesus, you are the light of our family.”
Share and Care
The Eucharist teaches us to love and serve others. Each day, try to do something kind for someone in your family or a friend—just like Jesus would.
Make It Special
On Sundays, dress nicely for a family meal or prayer time. Play soft music, set the table, and remind each other that Jesus is always with you, especially when you come together in love.
Celebrating the Eucharist at home helps us grow closer to God and to each other. Jesus loves when we invite Him into our homes and our hearts!
Dear Jesus,
We pray for all the children who will receive You in Holy Communion for the first time.
May they feel Your love shining in their hearts.
Help them to always walk in Your light, to share Your kindness,
and to grow in faith each day.
Bless their families, teachers, and catechists
who have helped guide them on this journey.
May this special day be the beginning of a lifelong friendship with You.
Amen.
