Year Two Team News
with Steph, Joel and Rochelle
It has been another busy couple of weeks in Year Two. We have fully immersed ourselves in our Inquiry Unit by making delicious mugs of Milo. During our Writing sessions, the students have worked diligently while writing a range of procedural texts, showcasing their ability to break down complex processes into step-by-step instructions.
Two weeks ago, the students had a wonderful time conducting some science experiments by mixing a variety of different materials and observing the results during our Hands On Science incursion. We have attached some photographs from the session for you to view. We would like to extend our thanks to Joel for organising a fun and engaging incursion for us all.
As we are about to embark on the second half of the Term and with Winter approaching, sickness tends to creep in. Therefore, it is important to take time to rest and recover when it is required. Please remind your child to bring a jumper or jacket and a water bottle to school each day.
Important news:
Curriculum Focus: Weeks 7 - 8
Literacy: In Writing, we will continue our work on procedural texts to teach our peers how to do something new.
Numeracy: After working on multiplication, we will be moving into fractions.
Inquiry: We will be continuing to explore materials, mixtures and properties through our Inquiry question ‘What Are Things Made Of, and Why?’. We will continue to explore objects in the classroom, identifying what materials they are made from and their purpose. Moreover, we will undertake some science experiments, exploring how different materials work together.
Willy Kids and Respectful Relationships: Through the pillar of Learning, we are learning about the importance of having a growth mindset and what it means in our everyday lives. We will also discuss ways in which we can apply a growth mindset in challenging situations. In Respectful Relationships, we are learning how to use our strengths to be a good friend and family member.
Until next time,
