New Front Garden & Seating
Landscaping Project at the front of NHS
Northcote High School has recently completed a small but meaningful upgrade to the front of the school, with the addition of a new garden, seating area, bike racks and accessible pathway.
The redesigned space provides a more welcoming entrance for students, staff and visitors, and offers a comfortable place to sit or meet before and after school. With a mix of native and ornamental plants, the garden adds greenery and seasonal colour to the area, softening the built environment and improving the streetscape.
Importantly, the new path is accessible for all members of our community, and the bike racks offer a practical improvement for students who ride to school.
While the major landscaping work was completed by professionals, students played a role in finishing off the space—spreading mulch, tidying edges and helping to plant the final garden beds. Their efforts have helped settle the area in and give it a sense of care and ownership.
This project is one of several small improvements around the school grounds that reflect our ongoing commitment to making Northcote High a more inclusive, sustainable and welcoming environment.
