Term 2, Week 8
Welcome back to the Grade 1/2 page!
Well done to 3/4 Mitchell for winning last fortnight's Maths Challenge!
Please find this fortnight's challenge below:
For reading, we enjoyed sharing two texts by the author Alison Lester. Last week, we followed the adventures of Wild and Woolly in The Journey Home. This week, we read Imagine and tomorrow, we look forward to watching it come to life on stage at The Capital Theatre.
Our Writing focus for the past two weeks has been procedural texts. One activity involved the students writing a procedure on how to make a sandwich. We chose some of these samples to test out how well the steps were written and we learnt that it is important to be very clear with our instructions.
In Mathematics, we continued our focus on efficient addition strategies such as doubling, counting on, bridging to ten and tens partners. The students also conducted a number of surveys to collect data and then they presented their findings in the form of a bar graph.
Students have continued to explore different Science concepts over the past two weeks. Last week, it saw us try to blow up a balloon using bicarbonate soda and vinegar. The students were very excited with the results.
