Celebrating achievements

This week we celebrated opening our Pollinator Corridor and recognised the impressive Taekwondo achievements of our Year 1 students.

Opening of our Pollinator Corridor

– Miss Sarah, Sustainability Leader

On Monday 26 May, we proudly celebrated the official opening of our Pollinator Corridor, a vibrant new nature strip designed to support our native pollinators. The event was followed by a special assembly acknowledgment for Emma Cutting from The Heart Gardening Project, whose vision and dedication - along with the support of her sponsors - made this project possible.

This once-ordinary strip has been transformed into a thriving habitat and an inviting space for students and community members to enjoy and explore. A huge thank you to Emma for her incredible organisation, to Mr Angus, and to all the dedicated parents and students who worked tirelessly - digging out twitch grass (no easy feat!), preparing the soil, laying cardboard, spreading soil, planting, and watering.

This project is a true reflection of the power of community spirit - what a beautiful community we belong to!

The Melbourne Pollinator Corridor (MPC) is an Australian-first innovation which will be, when completed, an 8km-long, ecology-centred, community-driven wildlife corridor for our native pollinating insects that are so important yet declining rapidly. PMPS is proud to be a part of this!

Taekwondo success

– Miss Caroline, Year 1 teacher

A group of students from 1AB were involved in Hall's Taekwondo Club championships on Sunday 25th May 2025.

Charlie, Edward, Beau, Alex, Felix and James Q all participated and were proud of their medals and certificates they received.

"I had to do sparring. I got a medal because I did the club championship." – Edward

"We did the pad drop competition which means you have to punch the pad before it drops to the floor. You have to punch it the furthest. I won the high kick and the pad drop." – Beau

"I won the pad drop as well and I came second in the axe kick competition. I got a certificate for the pad drop because only the person who wins get a medal." – Charlie

"I won the high kick competition. We had to kick the highest, I kicked higher than my body!" – Alex

"I won the pad drop competition so I got a medal. I only had one go and I got it the furthest." – James
