Week 6, Term 2 2025

Principal Update:
Kia ora whānau,
It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks at Ridgeview School! We wrapped up Week 5 with a fantastic Colour Run—thank you to everyone who helped make it such a fun and memorable event for our tamariki.
Looking ahead, we have some special events coming up to celebrate Matariki and our end-of-term Winter Market. These events are always a highlight for our community, and we would really appreciate any parent helpers who are able to support us on the day.
We’ve recently completed our mid-year data collection, and it’s pleasing to see the progress our students are making. This information will be shared in your child’s mid-year report, which will go home at the end of the term.
If you have any questions about your child’s report, there will be an opportunity in Term 3 to meet with your child’s classroom teacher to discuss their progress and next learning steps. You’re also welcome to get in touch via email if you’d like to connect earlier.
Ngā mihi nui,
Cassey Prentice
Colour Run- Great Success!
The Colour Run was an absolutely fantastic success—thank you to everyone who helped make it such a joyful and memorable event for our students!
We are thrilled to share that we raised a total of $5,591.60, with $3,554.60 going directly to the school. This is a hugely generous outcome and will help fund future learning opportunities and student events.
The remaining 40% of the funds covered the cost of running the event, including powder, prizes, decorations, planning resources, the fundraising platform, and the reward prizes that students can now order through their accounts.
If your child needs any help selecting or ordering their prize, they are welcome to pop in and see Cassey in the office.
A huge thank you to every parent who donated, supported the day, threw powder at our kids, danced, laughed, and celebrated with us. Your involvement made all the difference!
Matariki Celebration – Saturday 21st June, 7:30am
We warmly invite all Ridgeview whānau and our wider community to join us for our Matariki celebration on Saturday 21st June at 7:30am.
This is a special opportunity to come together as a community, reflect, and celebrate the Māori New Year. The morning will begin with a cooked breakfast, followed by student performances and a reflective karakia to honour the season of remembrance, gratitude, and renewal.
Afterwards, we’ll roll up our sleeves for a working bee to help bring our sensory garden to life and refresh our existing school gardens.
Gardening is an important part of Matariki as it symbolises new beginnings, growth, and the preparation for the seasons ahead—a perfect way to honour the themes of this celebration.
We hope to see many of our families there to share in this uniquely Aotearoa celebration and showcase the beauty of our school community.
Winter Night Market – Wednesday 26th June, 5:00–7:00pm
We’re excited to invite you to our Winter Night Market on Wednesday 26th June from 5:00–7:00pm!
This term, students have been learning about "Needs and Wants" and using that knowledge to design and create their own products to sell at the market. It’s been a fantastic learning experience, and we can’t wait for them to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.
To make the evening even more special, we’ve opened the event to local stallholders, so there’ll be plenty of exciting things to see, try, and buy. Delicious food stalls will also be on-site to help make this a fun and festive evening for the whole family.
Each class will be seeking a few parent volunteers to help students run their stalls—your support is always appreciated!
We’re also running a second-hand stall and would love donations of clean, good-quality clothes and toys.
Please drop these off at the school office if you’re able to contribute.
We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating our students’ learning in such a fun and meaningful way!
International Languages Week
To celebrate International Languages Week starting on 9th June, we will be holding a whole-school shared lunch on Thursday 12th June.
We invite all students to bring a shared plate of food that represents their culture or heritage. This is a wonderful opportunity for our tamariki to celebrate the rich diversity within our school and share a part of their background with others.
Please also include a small note with the name of the dish and which culture it comes from, so everyone can learn a little more about the food being shared.
We’re looking forward to a delicious and meaningful celebration together!
Our Last Day of Term
Our final day of Term 2 is Thursday 27th June, and we’re ending the term on a high note with our House Arts Challenge at 1:50pm.
Each house group will be performing an English song, a Māori waiata, and showcasing a collaborative art piece they’ve been working on throughout the term. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creativity, teamwork, and school spirit.
Whānau are warmly invited to join us for this special celebration—we’d love to see you there!
