Book Week Celebrations

Wow! What an incredible Book Week we had! The creativity, excitement and  joy of celebrating books and storytelling were evident throughout the school as students and staff came together to celebrate our love of literature through a number of events.

Our Book Character Parade was certainly a highlight, with students pulling out all the stops with their amazing costumes. From Dorothy to Minions, Michael Jackson to superheroes, our students certainly embraced the opportunity to bring their favourite characters to life! The hall was filled with colour, creativity and plenty of smiles as our characters paraded around the school.

We also launched our inaugural Reading Relay — an exciting new event designed to celebrate the joy of storytelling and the power of sharing a great book. Staff selected some of their favourite stories, and students travelled between five different locations, choosing stories to listen to and sharing their thoughts along the way. It was an hour filled with rich conversations, lots of laughter, funny tales and the wonderful excitement of being read to. What a fantastic way to celebrate the magic of books!

Our reading celebrations continued with our Book Week door decorations. Students and teachers worked incredibly hard throughout the term to transform their classroom doors into scenes from a special book of their choosing. From The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the enormous dragon of The Paper Bag Princess, to the yellow brick road leading to Emerald City, large eggs from The Good Egg and the Gruffalo's forest... there were just too many to name! Every door was bursting with imagination and detail. Well done to everyone who took part!

Last but certainly not least we have our Book Fair which was a resounding success! A huge thank you to our wonderful school community for supporting the fair so enthusiastically. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to select over $600 worth of new books to add to our library collection, as well as raise over $700 towards future library resources, including board games and activities for students to enjoy during play breaks. What an incredible result!

A  special thank you also goes to our staff, Library Monitors and student volunteers, who worked hard to set up the fair, help it run smoothly and support our younger students visiting throughout the week.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Book Week such a memorable celebration. It has been wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate books, stories, imagination and the joy of reading!
