PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we approach the end of Term 3, traditionally one of the busiest terms of the year, I’m pleased to reflect on the many achievements and exciting activities our students and staff have been involved in.

Earlier this term, Green Valley Public School was proudly recognised as one of the most improved public schools in NSW in Year 1 Phonics data. This is a testament to the expert teaching and dedicated work happening in classrooms every day to support our students’ learning.

Our Colour Fun Run was a fantastic success, raising enough funds for me to fulfil my promise and get slimed—thank you to everyone who contributed and participated! Our senior dance group shone brightly on stage at the Illuminate Showcase held at Cecil Hills High School, showcasing their talent and hard work. Additionally, over 50 students represented GVPS at the Green Valley PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival, with Sarah in Year 3 and Toetuu in Year 6 progressing to compete in the Sydney South West Regional Carnival next week — we are very proud of their achievements.

We also marked Bullying No Way week with meaningful activities, including online lessons and a ‘pop of purple’ dress-up, reinforcing our collective commitment to kindness and respect. Book Week was celebrated with enthusiasm through a Book Character Parade and a Reading Relay, engaging students in the joy of reading.

Our annual Donuts with Dad event was another highlight, providing a lovely opportunity for students to share a doughnut and then get creative with paper aeroplanes alongside their dads, uncles, grandfathers or father figures.

This week, our choir and dance groups will have the exciting opportunity to perform at the Western Liverpool Festival of Performing Arts. I am confident they will impress everyone with their dedication and talent.

Starting this week, some of our Year 5 and 6 students will compete in the James Busby Cup, a Stage 3 High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) transition initiative. Green Valley PS proudly enters as the defending champions, and we wish them the best of luck.

Looking ahead, our much-anticipated bi-annual concert is scheduled for Week 2 of Term 4. Classes are already hard at work preparing for this special event. Further information regarding the concert and ticket sales will be available soon.

Amidst all these exciting events and initiatives, students continue to work incredibly hard under the guidance of our expert teaching team.

As the weather warms up, please ensure your child’s uniform items are clearly labelled and that they wear the correct uniform every day. This helps us maintain a strong sense of pride and community within our school.
