Grade 4 News

The focus and friendship have continued in Year 4.
It has been so good to see many of our Year 4 students step up and show leadership both outside and, in the classroom, spreading both kindness and a fair go as they go about their day.
In Literacy, we are getting to the pointy end of our story, Kensuke’s Kingdom. It has been wonderful to see how engrossed the children have been in this story, with characters so carefully portrayed it has been made very easy for the children to feel for these characters and what might lay ahead for them.
I would like to apologise to all those parents who are experiencing conversations with their Year 4 child that include, absolutely, undeniably, thoroughly and undoubtedly. We have been using these high modality words in our persuasive texts and they have become almost addictive in their charm and power.
In Mathematics, we have completed our work in counting and adding various types of fractions and have moved onto the concept of ‘time’.
As always, please take time to build your child’s knowledge of the everyday use of time, in particular, matching time on a clockface ( analogue time) to digital time.
In Health we have been exploring what are healthy habits, including delving into the positives and negatives of ‘active time’ and ‘screen time’ with no judgement. It has been fascinating to compare what families think and what the children think about the pros and cons
Of both, we have had some very good discussions.
If you have not yet had your ‘Get to Know You Interview with your child’s teacher, please make contact with the office and arrange a time to meet.
Lent begins this week, a time of sharing, praying and helping others.
