Empowering Young Leaders: Junior Leadership at KWRSC

At KWRSC, we believe that leadership starts early! That’s why we are excited to strengthen our Junior Leadership structure for Years 7 and 8—giving our youngest students a voice and a platform to shape their school experience.

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) has long been a driving force for positive change, tackling important issues like sustainability, student well-being, and school policy. Now, we are actively encouraging our Year 7 and 8 students to step up, share their ideas, and make a difference.

Our Junior SRC Leaders will:

✅ Have a say in decisions that impact their school life

✅ Develop leadership skills through hands-on experiences

✅ Organize exciting events and activities for their peers

✅ Lead initiatives such as lunchtime clubs and student-led assemblies

✅ Provide valuable feedback on school policies

Early leadership opportunities help build confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility. By fostering young leaders now, we are developing the future changemakers of our school and wider community.

Look out for an announcement at the commencement of Term 2 for the voted leaders from both Year 7 and Year 8!

Year 7 Phillip Island Adventure Camp

What an incredible and action-packed few days our Year 7 students had at Phillip Island on their camp! From engaging in fun beach activities to conquering high ropes courses, paddling through the water on canoes, and creating memories that will last a lifetime, the students truly embraced every challenge that came their way. Each activity offered a unique opportunity to push their limits, try new things, and work together as a team. It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm, resilience, and determination they showed, both individually and collectively, throughout the entire experience.

This camp was not just about having fun in the great outdoors; it was a chance for our students to learn, grow, and truly embody the core values of Koo Wee Rup Secondary College:

🤝 Connection—Throughout the camp, our students built meaningful friendships, worked closely as a team, and supported one another through every challenge.

🙌 Respect—From showing respect for the natural beauty of the environment around them to being considerate and kind to their peers and maintaining respect for themselves, the students truly demonstrated what it means to be thoughtful and caring. The camp staff provided feedback stating how fantastic and respectful our students were.

🌱 Growth—This camp was an opportunity for our Year 7s to step outside their comfort zones, try new experiences, and challenge themselves in ways they hadn’t before. Whether conquering fears on the high ropes or supporting a friend during canoeing, they showed incredible personal growth and a willingness to embrace new experiences.

Congratulations once again to all our Year 7s for not only embracing these challenges with such enthusiasm but also for embodying the values that make Koo Wee Rup Secondary College.
