Thank you, Student Council
Our student council team include Madison Wilkin, Brody Lia, Archer Davey, Brianna Guest, Riley Isbister, Baillie Dean, Tyson Routledge and Abby de Fin.
This week I want to let you know about all the wonderful events and activities the Student Council have been involved in, and/or planning for 2025.
W.O.W.
Otherwise known as 'What's On Wednesday's' has had huge participation from the students here at the College. So far, the student council have held netball games, cricket matches, a trip to the swimming pool, basketball and a movie night. This week it was a volleyball game. Events for the rest of term include indoor hockey, bingo and a pizza night. Special thanks to the residential staff who are helping the student council promote these events.
Themed Dinners
The student council work with the kitchen staff and residential staff to plan themed dinners. This term we have already had a Hawaiian Luau dinner, and next Monday we are encouraging everyone to come to dinner in their pyjamas with a gold coin donation, as we are raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities. They are a home away from home, that provide comfort, support and resources to families who travel far from home for the medical care their child needs.
Reward Activities
The student council assist in planning the reward activities for the year. On Thursday, we have a food reward (jam donuts) for all students who had a perfect record for weeks 1-4. They are in the process of planning a large reward for the end of term. Currently the student council are also working with the Student Services Team in regard to looking at the rewards and how they can be improved. We thank the student council for their honest feedback.
P&C
The student council also put a submission to the P&C for funds towards an outdoor table tennis table. We are very grateful for their donation. Not only are the P&C funding for half of the table tennis table, the P&C are also donating money towards topping up the cutlery in the common rooms, money towards a couch and have generously donated funds for the student council to use for prizes for dress up days and events. Thank you very much P&C.
In the future...
We have many plans in place and will keep you informed as the year progresses. We are looking at running some extra activities fortnightly on a Monday afternoon, from 4:30pm - 5:30pm. Activities include giant Jenga, lawn twister, capture the flag, tug of war etc.
In Term 2 we are currently planning 'Do it for Dolly?' and 'Movember' in May.
If any student has any other ideas on what they would like to have at the College, please pass your idea onto one of the student councillors.
