What do you love about working at St Mary’s College?

I enjoy that my job allows me to utilise critical thinking and apply problem-solving skills. While it can be challenging at times, I'm grateful to be part of a supportive workplace that values and respects me both professionally and personally.

You’re an alumna of the College (class of 2008), having commenced in Year 2. What inspired you to return in a professional capacity?

I’ve always appreciated the strong sense of community at SMC. As a student, my teachers knew me personally – understanding my strengths and challenges, and I always felt like I truly belonged. Returning as a staff member, I still feel that same strong sense of community.

Since you graduated, what do you think has been the biggest change at the College?

Since I graduated, one of the biggest changes I've seen at the College is the significant growth of the pathways program in the secondary space. I really appreciate how it encourages a variety of options – whether it's university, TAFE, apprenticeships or other avenues. I'm also impressed by how innovative SMC has become. Being involved in the rollout of Connect and other technological advancements has been a privilege. Additionally, the House culture has evolved and is now embraced more than ever.

Do you have a standout memory from your time as a student?

One of my standout memories from my time as a student was being a part of the first SMC squad to compete at the National Rowing Championships. I also enjoyed my time as a student in Years 11 and 12, largely because of the smaller class sizes and the way teachers treated you as a young adult.

Your daughter, Georgie, is in Prep at St Mary’s College. Why was it important for you to continue the St Mary’s tradition in your family?

There are countless opportunities for SMC students, whether academic, sporting, spiritual or otherwise, and it was important to me that Georgie has the chance to pursue any path she chooses. I also want her to experience the same sense of community that I felt as a student, where she is valued for who she is, not just seen as another student.

If you could do anything, what would it be?

I would love to be in a band! While I can’t play any instruments and my singing is a bit off-key, I would love to embrace the experience of performing for a crowd. For now, though, I think I’ll stick with karaoke sessions in the car!
