Key information and upcoming events for our SMC community.

Harmony Day | Friday 21 March

Our Harmony Day celebrations will be taking place at the College this Friday 21 March. Harmony Week is a wonderful opportunity to embrace the richness of diverse cultures, foster respect and promote inclusivity. It's a reminder that everyone belongs, no matter where we come from or what we believe.

Junior School students: Wear a splash of orange with your uniforms on Friday to show your support.

Together, we can create a welcoming environment where all voices are heard and valued. Let's celebrate our diversity and unity!

Connect reminder

We would like to remind all families of the College to use Connect as the primary platform to stay engaged with your child's learning progress. Connect provides a comprehensive and convenient way to monitor academic achievements, upcoming assignments and important school updates.

Families are also encouraged to add Connect as an app on their phone or tablet home screen for direct access.

Additional information on how to install and use the app, including push notifications, is available in the Welcome Families Presentation. Step-by-step instructions are also highlighted below:

After installing the Connect web app on your device, follow these steps to enable push notifications:

  1. Open the App now on your home screen.
  2. Select the notifications bell on the top right.
  3. Click 'Install' when you see the message appear.
  4. You will then see the notification alert numbers appear on your app when an item is added for your attention.

If you have any questions or issues regarding Connect, please contact the College. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that we all stay connected and informed.

Clipboard for sport

Parents and carers will soon receive registration details for our new sports management platform, Clipboard.

Clipboard will provide us with a way to schedule and manage all extracurricular and cocurricular programs across the College on the one platform, improving the experience for students, parents, carers and staff.

Keep an eye out for a link with more information on this platform and how to create and sign into your account. Stay tuned!

Volunteering at SMC

At St Mary's College, we recognise the valuable role volunteers play in helping our students flourish within our school community.

We welcome parents, carers or community members to become registered volunteers to enable them to be involved in the variety of student activities we offer at our school.

For more information on volunteering and how to apply for a registration to Work With Vulnerable People (WWVP), please visit our website here

Together, we share the important responsibility of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students, as mandated by both federal and jurisdictional legislation.

Mandatory Child Safety Briefing

To support this, Catholic Education Tasmania and St Mary's College ask all volunteers to read, understand, complete and sign the Child Safety Briefing before starting any volunteer work, such as helping in the classroom or on excursions.

This is an annual requirement to ensure we all stay informed and compliant with Child Safety Standards. Please make sure to complete this briefing before your first visit to the College, ideally at the start of Term 1.

Instructions:

  1. Please have a digitally scanned copy of your Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card ready to upload. If you do not have a WWVP card, you are required to get one before you can volunteer.
  2. Using an internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Chrome, please open the following link to the briefing: Safeguarding Children Briefing.
  3. Please read through each of the pages carefully, complete all form fields and note information along the way.
  4. After the briefing, press the submit button to complete.
