Netball Gala Day
Last Tuesday Gunnedah Netball Association and Netball NSW hosted a Gala Day for students in Years 3 and 4. St Xavier's entered 3 teams in the competition which was non-competitive and all about learning the rules and positions of netball. We played teams from Gunnedah South and Mullaley, as well as some friendly games against each other. The teams were made up of boys and girls and all students learnt a lot about the game of netball. Despite the very warm weather it was an enjoyable day and the improvement throughout the day was amazing. Thank you to all of our supporters on the day, in particular Mrs Gilham and Mrs Bunner for coaching & umpiring.

On Friday 7th March our infants students had their cross country at Kitchener Oval, it was a little windy but everyone had a great time and put in a big effort to run the course. Thank you to our Yr 6 house captains for helping to set up and run with some students, it was much appreciated. Thank you also to everyone who came to watch, it was a great atmosphere with lots of support for everyone who was participating.
NSW Australia Football Primary All School Girls 12 Years & Under Selection Trials 2025
Lyla attended the All School Girls Trials this week and although she did not make the team she had a fantastic day and we are so proud of her. Below is what Lyla had to say on her experience.
“Hi my name Lyla, On Wednesday the 5th of March I travelled to Medowie to play AFL at the all schools girls 12yrs and under selection trial. We played 5 games and started off with some drills to get us warmed up. It was a great experience to play with just girls and travel to play footy, I got a few goals and marks on the day and met some new people. Overall I had a great time playing with girls and it was an amazing experience.”
