Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden (SAKG)

IN THE KITCHEN

We have continued to practise our knife skills in the kitchen whilst preparing delicious recipes for us all to enjoy.

We enjoyed our chooks' eggs in a vegetable frittata, also using some of our fresh herbs and silver beet from the garden; a crunchy raw beetroot, pear and feta salad and some orange ricotta pancakes. This week we tried our hand at a risotto of the imagination, also using fresh herbs and silver beet, a fennel and orange salad, and banana bread, delicious!

We had some special visitors from the Lion's Club of Wheelers Hill share our lunch on Thursday as they are looking to assist us in reinvigorating the area outside the canteen.

If you would like copies of the recipes, I am uploading them onto a SAKG Google Classroom that all students in Y3-6 have access to by logging on at home. You are free to download and use from there.

IN THE GARDEN

In the garden we have continued to plant our autumn and late summer seeds and they are flourishing. As the weather has been extremely hot, we are waiting another week to put them into the garden.

All the levels scarecrows are coming together and hopefully will be in the garden next week.

Today the 3/4's prepared the garden for planting making cucumber climbing frames and bean frames.

We like to upcycle things in the garden and are looking for donations of:

-clean tin cans (any size)

-washed egg shells

-coffee grains

-bottle lids

-bags of autumn leaves

-pine cones

Please leave in the boxes outside the chook pen on the shelves.
