Open Afternoon
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our recent open afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many of you there, exploring the opportunities and experiences we offer to our students.
Your involvement and support mean the world to us, and we truly appreciate the time you took to engage with our staff and learn more about our school community. Understanding Place Value – A Key Math Skill!
Our students are continuing with the important concept of place value. Understanding place value is a key skill that helps children comprehend the value of numbers and build a strong foundation for more advanced math concepts.
Here’s a brief overview of what your child will be learning:
Prep: Children will explore numbers 1-20, focusing on recognising and understanding the value of each digit in a number. For example, the number 14 means 1 ten and 4 ones.
Year 1: Students will work with numbers up to 100, recognising the place value of tens and ones. They will also start to group numbers into tens, helping them develop their addition and subtraction skills.
- Year 2: This year, students will extend their understanding of place value to include hundreds, tens, and ones. They will be able to read, write, and compare numbers up to 1,000!
Prep Show & Share
In our learning journey, we’ve also been exploring the wonderful world of letters! The alphabet is not just about learning to read and write—it’s about sparking curiosity and creativity. Each letter has its own unique shape and sound, and we’ve been having fun discovering how they come together to form words.
We look forward to more exciting activities as we continue our alphabet adventures!
Buddies Visit
We had a wonderful time during our recent buddies visit! Our older students joined us to talk about the four seasons, and it was a fun and educational experience for everyone. They shared interesting facts about the weather, activities, and changes we see throughout the year.
The students enjoyed engaging with each other, asking questions, and learning together. It’s always great to see our school community coming together to explore new topics!
