Little Learners Celebration Day

We had a fabulous day celebrating the characters that we have learnt during our Little Learners Program over the term.

All the students looked fantastic in their costumes and had lots of fun parading and eating lots of delicious food! Here are some photos of our day.

Preview for Learning:

Literacy

Over the past few weeks, we have been exploring the various letter names and sounds throughout the entire alphabet, with a particular emphasis on sounding out and blending the letters S, A, T, P, I, N, and M. We have also continued our exploration of nursery rhymes! The students had the opportunity to select their favorite nursery rhyme and create illustrations to accompany the stories. Additionally, we have begun delving into fables like The Lion and the Mouse, The Dog and His Reflection, and The Hare and the Tortoise. As we discussed these stories, we focused on understanding the "moral of the story" and the valuable lessons they teach us.

Sentence Level Writing:

In Sentence Level Writing, we have been exploring what a noun is and working with partners to identify nouns in sentences. Students have enjoyed learning about the different types of nouns, including those that represent a person, place, animal, or thing. We have also been learning about verbs and practising how to identify them in sentences.

Preview - Students will be exploring nouns and verbs. We will also be commencing our Literature work on ‘The Community’.

Numeracy

Over the past fortnight, students have learnt about the numbers 4 and 5. Students enjoyed representing the number in tally marks, on a die, tens frame, as a word and noticing where we see this number in the real world, for example, a car has 4 wheels. Students have also started learning about comparing and ordering numbers.

Students have practiced reading, writing and making numbers with unifix. We have learnt the concepts of ‘more’ and less’ and identified the numbers ‘before’ and ‘after’. We have finished our shape unit and started a new unit on data. Students have been answering yes or no questions and learnt to ask questions to others, for example, is your favourite animal a lion or a monkey?

Preview- Next fortnight we will learn about the number 6, solve problems and revise what we have learnt this Term.

Wellbeing

Over the past fortnight students have been looking at how to make friends. They have learnt many strategies such as, how we can ask questions when making new friends? Students also learnt about our four friendship facts which are:

  1. No friendship is perfect
  2. Every friendship is different
  3. Trust and Respect are the two most important qualities of friendship
  4. Friendships change and that is okay!

Preview of learning:

Next fortnight, students will examine the 'Friend o meter' and how friendships may fluctuate between the green and red zones. They will learn different ways to manage and process these changes if they occur

Placemat Presentations

Our classes have been having a lot of fun as students present their placemats to their classmates. These placemats allow students to share personal stories and details about themselves.

The students have really enjoyed learning more about their classmates, from family traditions to favorite hobbies. It’s been a great way to connect and build a sense of community.

We are excited to keep seeing more placemats as students finish them. Thank you to everyone for participating and making this project so special!

Curious Corner

Students have explored the Curious Corner, where they have been practising turn-taking, engaging in imaginative role-play, and developing their social skills. Through craft, construction, and fine motor exercises, they have enhanced their creativity and teamwork while strengthening important developmental skills.

Buddies

Our Prep students have been thrilled to meet with their buddies again! They’ve had a blast engaging in a get-to-know-you activity which allowed them to find out lots of exciting things about their buddies.
