Year 5

This term, the Year 5 students have been exploring various aspects of Aboriginal culture as part of their studies on Australia’s rich history and the establishment of colonies. One key focus has been the significance of Aboriginal languages and the cultural practices that ensure the care of Country.

To deepen their understanding, we had the privilege of hosting three Aboriginal guest speakers who shared their knowledge and experiences. They explained how Aboriginal peoples celebrate their heritage and how Aboriginal language and cultural practices continue to thrive in the modern world. The speakers also introduced students to different Aboriginal didgeridoos and boomerangs, providing fascinating insights into their use and meaning.

The students thoroughly enjoyed this enriching experience, gaining a greater appreciation for Aboriginal culture and the vital role of language in preserving traditions.
