This year, we congratulate the following students on their captaincy positions within the Co-Curricular space. Our Captains have shared a little bit about their goals for the year below.
Camera Crew Captain
Amelia Mayo
As the Camera Crew Captain for 2025, I am super excited to share my club's passion and knowledge of photography with the school community. My main goals for this year are to foster creativity, capture the beauty of our school spirit, teach others the essential elements of photography and of course, develop a club that truly feels like family. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year ahead, and hope we get to create lasting memories together!
Choir Captains
Matilda Dixon & Emily Valentine
One of our favourite things about Choir is the community that has been created and all the lovely people that make Friday afternoon rehearsals so much fun. As the 2025 Choir Captains, we’re so excited to continue welcoming new people whether you’re a longtime musician or just want to try something new. Tere are so many things on offer that we encourage you to get involved with. 2025 is a big year in the Arts side of the College with the musical, Mamma Mia, happening and we can’t wait to help bring it to the spotlight, this is the year to get involved and have fun.
Debating Captains
Elizabeth Christian & Imogen McKenna
As Debating Captain, I’m excited to see students grow in confidence and skill, both in training and during the competition. Watching teams strengthen their arguments and succeed is incredibly rewarding. I look forward to encouraging participation and fostering a supportive debating culture. - Lizzie
This year, I'm thrilled to embark on a journey dedicated to building a vibrant and supportive community in Mount Alvernia debating teams. My mission is to empower students, boost their confidence, and ultimately make a meaningful impact on their lives. The anticipation of witnessing individuals grow, develop, and take bold risks—much like I did—is something that truly excites me. Reflecting on my own experiences, I remember how daunting public speaking was during my primary school years. It was a challenge that seemed insurmountable at first. However, through dedicated practice and a fearless leap into the unknown, I discovered a passion that quickly grew within me. My goal is to see students find that same confidence, grow as a person and take the plunge into new opportunities. I believe that by fostering a supportive environment, we can help each other grow and thrive, overcoming fears and discovering new passions along the way, while building lifelong connections. - Imogen
Model United Nations Captain
Heidi Dowling
Hi, my name is Heidi, and I am honoured to be Mt A's first Model United Nations (MUN) captain. My vision for this year is to get more people involved in all things international relations and MUN, as well as advocating for more youth involvement in global issues. I am so excited for this year!
Franciscan Colleges Instrumental Program Captain
Mariana Campo
What I'm most looking forward to as FCIP Captain is getting a chance to really try to improve our overall effort and learn more about those in the FCIP group!
Congratulations to Sarah & Imogen who competed in the Regional round for Lions Youth of the Year last weekend. Both students spoke incredibly well and answered questions around local and federal issues. Imogen was awarded the Public Speaking Award for the day. Thank you for representing us with pride and confidence. We will be back next year!
