Health Update

Symptoms of illness - Please be aware
A number of students at our school have recently been unwell with symptoms consistent with gastroenteritis (commonly known as a stomach bug).
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and sometimes a mild fever. This type of illness can spread easily in school settings.
To help prevent further spread, we ask that you please:
- Keep your child at home if they are experiencing any of the above symptoms
- Ensure your child does not return to school until at least 24 hours after symptoms have completely stopped
- Encourage frequent and thorough handwashing with soap and water
- Remind your child not to share food, drinks, or personal items
The school is taking additional cleaning measures and reinforcing hygiene practices with students.
If your child becomes unwell at school, we will contact you to arrange for them to be collected promptly.
If you have any concerns about your child’s health, please seek advice from your healthcare provider.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our school community safe.
Asthma Action Plans
A school asthma policy is a formal guideline that schools use to safely support students with Asthma. It ensures staff are prepared to prevent asthma triggers, recognize symptoms, and respond quickly in emergencies.
Parents/carers must provide the school with an Asthma Action Plan which has been completed by the student’s medical practitioner. The plan must outline:
● the prescribed medication taken by the student and when it is to be administered, for example as a pre-medication to exercise or on a regular basis
● emergency contact details
● the contact details of the student’s medical practitioner
● the student’s known triggers
● the emergency procedures to be taken in the event of an asthma flare-up or attack
All students diagnosed with asthma are required to have a student asthma kit at school which contains:
● their own prescribed reliever medication labelled with the student’s name
● their spacer (if they use one)
Student asthma kits will be stored in the first aid room.
To ensure we are following our duty of care for Asthmatic students, we ask that you follow these guidelines as soon as possible.
If we do not have an up to date plan / medication it can result in your child/ren not being able to attend excursions and camps for their safety.
