Sacred Heart Athletics Years 3-6

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival last Thursday at Central Reserve. The winning team, by just one point, was the Yellow team, Arundell. The runner-up was Blue team, Marian, and Red team, Mercy, came in third place. A very big thank you to the Sacred Heart staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day and to all the parents who assisted. Without the support of our parents, events like this would not be able to go ahead, and we are very grateful. A special thank you also to race starter Lennie Perkins and results coordinator Jayden Tebble for their assistance.

Year 5/6 Sport

Currently our Year 5 and 6 students are learning about the game of golf. Mitch Robertson from Kelly Sport, Geelong, is coaching the students in the fundamentals of golf for two consecutive Mondays in the lead up to the Colac Division Golf Tournament on Monday 30th March. Unfortunately the weather was a deterrent and we had to move inside for the rest of the golf lessons. Let’s hope next Monday is a better day.

Colac Division Golf Tournament

On Monday 30th March, the Colac Division Primary School Golf Tournament will be held at the Colac Golf Club. The event will begin at 9:30am and finish at approximately 1:15pm. Students will travel to and from the event by bus. Please note that this is not a compulsory event.

Students participating will need to bring their own lunch, snacks and a drink bottle on the day. The cost of the day is $10 per student (which will cover the cost of hiring the golf course). We require parent or grandparent helpers to assist with groups of golfers throughout the day. All helpers must hold a current Working With Children Check. It is preferred that each group of students has an adult to walk around the course with them. The adult’s responsibilities will include supporting safety, assisting with etiquette and helping with scoring where required.

Please note that we must have one adult for every three students, so you may wish to organise this with another family.

An entry form is available for interested students at the school gym. Please complete the details on this form and return it to school a.s.a.p. with monies owing.

A permission form on PAM will also need to be completed closer to the date of the event.
