Harmony Day

Harmony Day will be celebrated at Sacred Heart on Thursday 19th March. This day promotes cultural diversity, inclusiveness and respect. It encourages people to embrace differences, celebrate multiculturalism and recognise the value of unity. The day is marked by various community events, performances and educational activities that aim to reduce racial prejudice and foster social harmony.

Our school will celebrate the day with a whole-school assembly presented by Miss Callahan’s Year 5 class at 9:00am in the Multi-purpose room, and everyone is welcome to attend.

At 11:30am, students will participate in buddy class activities that recognise and celebrate diversity. We invite students to wear a touch of orange to mark this occasion.

65th Colac Kana Procession

On Saturday, 21st March, students from Foundation to Year 6 are invited to participate in the 2026 Colac Kana Procession. The theme for this year is “Once Upon a Time.” Students are welcome to dress in any costume inspired by the theme (for example, fairy tale characters, storybook heroes, princes and princesses, dragons, wizards, and more). As this is a walking entry, all students must wear suitable footwear. A hat is essential for sun protection, and we ask that sunscreen be applied before arrival. Please also ensure your child brings a drink bottle.

This is an optional activity. However, we require your permission and confirmation of your child’s attendance by Wednesday, 18th March (please complete survey in PAM) Students will meet at 12:45pm at the eastern end of the showgrounds (under the trees). Parents/guardians will be required to collect their children from the same location at the conclusion of the parade. If there are any creative parents willing to assist with organising our Kana entry, including helping to create a school banner, please contact the office or Nicole Lynch.

RDA Colac - Riding for the disabled

RDA (Riding for the Disabled) is an equine-assisted program that offers individuals with disabilities the chance to grow in confidence, strength, and well-being. At RDAV, they believe in the importance of inclusion and the joy that comes from working together, making each session a positive step forward for their participants. They accept all students with all types and levels of disability including (but not limited to) Spina Bifida, Vision and Hearing Impaired, Intellectual Disabilities, Autism etc.

RDA in Colac currently have a lot of volunteers, but very few students in the program. This is a chance for your child/children to extend their abilities, confidence in movements and to improve their balance, posture and coordination, while enjoying the freedom, exercising outside in the fresh air and the sheer exhilaration of riding or driving in a horse draw carriage.

RDA Colac sessions are held every Tuesday throughout Autumn and Spring. The venue is Colac Adult Riding Club Grounds, Lavers Hill Road, Elliminyt. For more information please contact President Mr Brendan Scanlon (email address: rdacolac@gmail.com).
