Principal's News

Dear Parents/Carers,
This week in Australia, we celebrate “Harmony Week”. Australia is one of the world's most successful multicultural countries, and our cultural diversity is at the heart of who we are. Over half of Australians were born overseas or have at least one parent who was born overseas.
Harmony Week is also about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, from the Traditional Owners of the land to our most recent arrivals. Celebrating that no matter where you come from, we're united by the Australian values of freedom, respect, fairness, democracy and equal opportunity.
At school, we will have an assembly this Thursday at 9.00am in the multi-purpose room and then break into multi-age groups to do some Harmony Day activities. Parents are invited to come along to the assembly.
Children are encouraged to wear a “splash of orange” to support Harmony on this day.
Concussion – Important information to be aware of for parents and carers
If your child has experienced a concussion outside of the school setting it is important that they rest for a period of 24 to 48 hours and then gradually return to activities after this time. Returning to school can be a graduated approach with the aim of increasing tolerance to a full day, the same situation could occur with sporting activities. It is always important to check with your doctor and seek medical treatment after a child sustains a concussion.
It is important to inform the school if your child has sustained a concussion outside of school; this is to ensure the school can monitor your child’s wellbeing and adapt activities as required.
This factsheet link below from the Royal Children’s Hospital is valuable to read and understand.

There is also a great evidence-based app from the Murdoch children’s research institute that walks you through what to do in the result of a concussion.
Kind regards,
