Briars Classification Excursions for Science.

Students spent the day ponding and classifying invertebrates found using a dichotomous key and sketching and identifying a variety of plants in the Briars landscape. Students walked along one of the Briars tracks and used their senses to hear bird and frog sounds, sight for lichen on decaying trees and bird twitching!

The highlight really was the pond water life, who knew there was so much life under the surface. This excursion supported learning for student to complete a plant profile and an invertebrate profile for their upcoming assessment.
