Sydney Symphony Orchestra Excursion
On Friday 23rd August, a group of students visited the Sydney Opera House to view an orchestral performance and animation performed by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra entitled, ‘Daughter of the Inner Stars’.
We walked into the Opera House to a sight of artful architecture and into a theatre of live performance. We were warmly welcomed by the conductor, Nicholas Buc, and to a mystical yet victorious motif - the motif of the spirits. Actress Misha Pinnington, voiced the main character, Fia.
The sensation of hearing this was beautiful, as if music was pulled out of a movie, and put into sight with the harmonies of a full orchestra. It was a great chance to watch a real performance up close. We were introduced to a magical plot, and we were travelling through the walls of space’s mystery to bring back Fia’s mysteriously lost father.
The heartwarming story by James Vinson and carefully pieced music was an excitement to all of us, and it was such a blessing to be invited inside the walls of the Sydney Opera House. We were blown away by the music and the time put in to write and play the music of Nicholas Buc. The chemistry of the music and animation of Nathan Su was a once in a lifetime experience we were all thrilled to be part of.
The Sydney Symphony Orchestra performance was an amazing reflection of our learning in the Amadeus Program of musical motifs. We thoroughly enjoyed and admired the use of the motifs through different stages of the plotline, and have gained a spark of interest from this special occasion.
Sydney Symphony Orchestra was a very fun experience and a wonderful opportunity to see a big orchestra perform together. It was a great blessing to see the orchestra, and really fun to see this masterpiece of music.
