From Mrs Scott's Desk

Friday 6 September 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

Spring is here and we are all enjoying more warmth and the children are really enjoying being back on the oval in the mornings. It’s great to see the students wearing their hats so diligently and making sure they have them at school.

Father’s Day Breakfast

A big thank you to Lowanna Sweeney and the Year 5 families for the organisation and donation of goods for the Father’s Day Breakfast last Friday. It was so lovely to see so many dad’s, grandad’s and special male role models in the lives of our students be present to share in that time with the children and other men.

Special thanks to Mark Halliburton for providing the extra BBQ and to the staff for their assistance. We also say a very special Thank you to the business’ who donated the Lucky Door prizes which were drawn at the assembly last Friday:

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 337 Junee

My donation was a bottle of Lily Pily wine.

Jubilee Mass for Fr Paddy

St Joseph's School and Parish Communities invite you all to celebrate Fr Paddy’s Jubilee Mass on Saturday 21st September at 6pm in the church. Fr Paddy has been in the priesthood for 30 years and it’s our way of celebrating this very special milestone with him. We are so grateful that we are able to share in Fr Paddy’s Faith Leadership here at St Joseph's and it would be lovely for our school community to join with the Parish to support him in this auspicious celebration.

Reconciliation Commitment Mass last Saturday Night/Parent Meeting

Last Saturday, our Reconciliation candidates came with their families to make a commitment to their preparation and journey towards the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Thank you to all the families and students who came along to the mass to support the candidates but also to those who sang in the choir with Mr Pratt and who had a special part in the mass. A big thank you to Fr Paddy, Mrs Salmon and Mrs Virgona for their instruction and organisation of this Sacrament.

Colour Fun Run

To celebrate the end of term, our amazing Year 1 parents are hosting a Colour Fun Run on Friday 27th September (last day of school). Details are in the flyer included in this newsletter. This day is not only for the students at St Joseph's but also for siblings and parents to take part. There will be an obstacle course set up on the school oval and each class will run the course. There is a $5 registration fee for each student participating which will include a sausage sizzle lunch, a pair of colourful sunglasses and all the colourful dust students will be showered in. Spectators can also purchase bags of colour on the day to throw over the students as they run past. Other than the bags of colour, cupcakes and lollies, everything including the registration fee is to be paid for on QKR. Children need to wear old clothes with a white T shirt preferably for that colourful effect!

Also on QKR is the opportunity to donate money for me to be ‘Slimed’ on the day. If we reach a total of $250, students can tip a large bucket of slime over me. If we exceed $250.00 another staff member can nominate to be slimed. We will keep a running tally of the donations towards the sliming and inform the students and community as we lead up to the day. I’d best be not wearing my finest clothes that day either!

A huge thank you to our sponsors:

It will be a colourful way to end our Term!

God Bless

Angela Scott
