Splinters, Splashes, Sounds, Stage and Stories

Last Thursday, the college halls were alive with parents, students and staff viewing the Year 12 major works presentation evening - Splinters, Splashes, Sounds, Stage and Stories. Music and drama performances, along with art works and industrial constructions and History and English presentations all impressed the audiences and students were very proud to present the culmination of their hard work over the past two years to their parents and peers.

Write a Book in a Day

On Tuesday, the Senior Resource Centre was a-buzz with excitement and creativity as students from Years 7-10 competed in the ‘Write a Book in a Day' competition. The annual competition gives participants the chance to collaborate and flex their creativity as teams of between 5 and 10 participants write and illustrate an entire book in one day.

On the day, each team was given unique parameters for their story, arriving in well protected envelopes, ensuring that all stories are unique and, importantly, that no one received a head start!

Teams are encouraged to fundraise during the competition, with entry fees and all money raised going directly to The Kids’ Cancer Project to support vital childhood cancer research. Every book submitted will also be made available free to kids in hospitals around Australia.

The college looks forward to sharing the student books in the coming weeks. A special thanks goes to Mr Nicholas Westhoff who oversaw the planning and running of the day.

Lights, Camera, Pius! – Film Festival

This afternoon, months of planning, story boarding, filming and editing came to fruition at the Lights, Camera, Pius! – Film Festival. Over 150 students attended Hoyts Chatswood in Periods 5 and 6 to view all of the short films submitted to the committee. There was a huge sense of excitement as the considerable amount of work was celebrated by the community at the cinema.

Congratulations must go to all members of the creative arts team who oversaw the running of the film festival as well as all of the students who toiled over and submitted their films.
