Working in Partnership
I dreamt I stood in a studio,
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child’s mind,
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher—the tools she used,
Were books, music, and art.
The other, a parent—working with a guiding hand,
And a gentle loving heart.
Day after day, the teacher toiled
With a touch that was deft and sure.
While the parent laboured by his side,
And polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last, their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had moulded into the child,
Could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If each had worked alone,
For behind the teacher stood the school,
And behind the parent, the home.

Live Jesus in our Hearts - Forever!
The poem above highlights the vital partnership between school and home, both of which share equal responsibility in shaping the minds of our young gentlemen. Together, they help foster open-mindedness and create a future where everyone feels valued and included. Throughout their time at the College, I hope and pray that our sons have felt the freedom to be themselves, supported by their teachers, peers, and parents, with the assurance that they are loved. As we continue along our journey, and especially for our Year 12 students, may all students conitue to walk humbly with their God.
Splinters, Splashes, Sounds, Stage and Stories
What an amazing evening that promoted the skills, talent and creativity of over 70 Year 12 students. The major works and performances were of the highest quality. Both staff and students should be very pleased with the final product and may their dedication and commitment be rewarded with outstanding HSC results.
Please keep our drama and music students in your prayers as they prepare for their practical examinations over the course of the next two weeks.
Father's Day – Wear your favourite jersey for Organ Donation awareness
Our Father’s Day celebrations on Thursday 29 September with the Junior School and on Friday 30 September with the Senior School were wonderful tributes to the special relationships between sons, grandsons, and their fathers, grandfathers, or significant male figures. Both events were exceptionally well attended, and it was heartwarming to witness the discussions prompted by Mr Petrie’s questions, followed by the affectionate hugs shared between sons and their father figures, a gesture commonly seen in European cultures. This expression of affection is something that should be embraced more often between sons and their father figures. Special thanks to the P&F Association for their support of the staff during the BBQ on Friday after the Mass. Well over 520 eggs and multiple kilograms of bacon were cooked and served.
Thank you to all the students and their fathers and father figures for donning their favourite jersey in support of Jersey Day. The day was a great success with so many students raising awareness of organ and tissue donation.
Staffing matters
As you may know, Mr Damo has been absent from the College throughout 2024. Recently, Mr Damo informed me that he will be returning to the College in 2025 but will be stepping down from his role as Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning. He is eager to return, particularly to his passion for teaching the students of St Pius X College.
Please keep Mr Greg Bell in your prayers. Mr Bell recently experienced a serious health scare that required emergency care. While his health is gradually improving, he will be away from the College for some time. As a community let us continue to pray for the his speedy recovery.
Farewell to Seniors Twilight Concert
This Friday the College will once again acknowledge and recognise the wonderful contribution our Year 12 students have had on the College music programme. Many, if not all, have been part of the musical ensembles since they commenced at the College. It is their ongoing commitment to music that makes this evening so special. On behalf of the College, I would like to thank all the Year 12 students who have supported music at the College and who have given the community the opportunity to hear and see their inspirational talent.
College Colour Awards at The Concourse
The College Colour Awards on Tuesday, 10 September, at the Chatswood Concourse, we will celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of our students in the cocurricular program. Thank you in advance to Mr Matt Stearn for organising the ceremony. Unfortunately, due to capacity limitations at the Chatswood Concourse, we are unable to invite additional guests. However, families will be able to view the event via live stream, with a link, shared in the Senior School Cocurricular page, and will also be forwarded to parents of award recipients.
